From Los Angeles to Rio — luxury as a philosophy
"I learned that true luxury is never having to ask twice."
Still in her early twenties, Isis Grossi was living in Los Angeles, inside a circle of influential people that brought together Reggie Bush, the 2010 Super Bowl champion, Paris Hilton and other well-known names. It wasn't work: it was simply the world she moved in. The gift that would define her came later.
When she moved back to Rio, people from that same circle started reaching out whenever they visited. A restaurant table. A driver who actually knew the city. She never charged for any of it.
In 2014, an American production team came to run VIP hospitality for the World Cup with no contacts and no Portuguese. Isis joined in a small role and ended up running the operation, hosting Kobe Bryant and managing the night Rihanna performed at the tournament's official hotel. That was when she realized what she'd been doing for free could be a business. She turned down an offer to return to LA and opened Grossi Group in Rio instead.
More than a decade later, she still curates every supplier herself: drivers, villas, aircraft, security when it's called for. Demand peaks around Réveillon and Carnaval, and around major sporting events too, like the NFL game in Brazil, now heading into its second edition.
The clearest sign of a job well done is when the client calls the following year wanting to come back, or asks what it takes to own a place in Rio.
These days, the work is no longer limited to Rio, where it all began. Grossi Group designs tailor-made trips and experiences to anywhere in the world.
